As the most diverse political party of 12 parties represented in the Johannesburg City Council, the DA holds 90 the 260 available seats, 45 of which are directly-elected ward seats and 45 of which are allocated on the basis of proportional representation.
In addition to their obligations and responsibilities to the people of Johannesburg in the Wards which they represent, all DA Councillors play an invaluable oversight role in the day-to-day functions of the City’s administration through representation on and active participation in all 18 of the city’s Section 79 Portfolio Committees.
