The Democratic Alliance in Johannesburg is calling on the City of Johannesburg to urgently investigate and resolve the constant power and water outages in Klipfonteinview. This comes as residents of the area took to the streets in protest to air their grievances.
Ward Councillor for Ward 32, Cllr Darren Bergman, said that “Whilst Allandale Rd burnt last night and youth were dispersed, I found it very hard to find sympathy for the City. I have called on the City to investigate these issues on numerous occasions and to help us to find a sustainable solution”.
Everyone in Johannesburg is victimised by an ailing infrastructure and constant cable thefts but the poor community of Klipfonteinview face an extra burden. Forgotten communities between Region E and Region A of Johannesburg as well as major areas like Alexandra and Mayibuye and are often forced to take drastic measures to be heard.
We as the City need to urgently take up their plight and let's not rest until the community of Klipfonteinview can!
